ABOUT THE BLOGGER
Welcome to the blog and professional photography website of Ian Johnson. I’m glad you’ve stopped by my little corner of the internet! Here you’ll find a swathe of photos from across North America. My primary goal is to tie together nature through photography and writing. This wesbite provides documentation of wildlife behavior, natural phenomena and life through videography, photography, and writing. It is intended to be educational, insightful, and (hopefully) bring inspiring imagery and writing allowing the visitor to live vicariously through its content.
Ian Johnson is a photographer and writer located in Hoonah, Alaska. His images tie together objects in their settings to tell a story. This may mean capturing the ecology of a Coastal Brown Bear eating a salmon, or the power of a Tlingit dancer in full regalia. He grew up in rural Minnesota, completed his undergrad on the shores of Lake Superior, and moved to Maine for several years. He graduated with a Masters in Wildlife Biology from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks and moved to Hoonah to work with the Sustainable Southeast Partnership and Hoonah Indian Association as the Environmental Coordinator. With those organizations he works to solve some of the issues inherent to life in Southeast Alaska including food security, natural resource management, energy systems, and entrepreneurs. Ian is an avid outdoorsman who, along with his wife, participates in all forms of subsistence gathering including hunting, fishing, berry picking, and harvesting shellfish. He feels incredibly blessed to be in this diverse and beautiful community and land, and does not think there is much better place in the world to be a photographer, naturalist and harvester than Hoonah!
Ian is constantly photographing and learning about the world around him. You can follow along with his images and stories of Hoonah, Alaska, and beyond at this website or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ianlww

Have you reached this page because you are researching using a Micro Four-thirds (M 4/3) system for wildlife? You’ve come to the right place! I pretty exclusively shoot the Olympus OMD Em5 which I picked up when it came on the market a few years ago. Many of the lenses I shoot are adapted manual lenses which provide a ton of flexibility to the the overall System. If you have any questions on the equipment just leave a message. Thanks!
Thanks for checking In!
